CURCHOREM: Curchorem MLA and Power Minister Nilesh Cabral has informed that Town and Country Planning (TCP) department has cleared the plan for new modern Kadamba Transport Corporation (KTC) bus stand at, Curchorem.
According Cabral, a new fish market would be constructed soon after shifting the existing KTC bus stand to new site near the Ambedkar circle.
He informed that hot-mixing and carpeting of roads in Curchorem market are in progress which was tendered for an estimated cost of Rs 1.80 crore.
“All the roads in market area would be hot-mixed with macadam carpet and the remaining internal roads would be hot-mixed in coming days. The work was little delayed due to lying of under-ground of electric cables which was undertaken by spending around Rs 33 crore in the first phase,” Cabral said and informed that second phase work of underground cabling has been tendered and remaining two phases work would be tendered by end of this year so that work can be completed in entire constituency within next two to three years time.
“98 percent work of new one-storeyed building for up-graded Primary Heath Centre has been completed and very soon tenders will be floated to procure medical equipments, beds, chairs, morgue and pharmacy requirements for this 200 bedded hospital,” said Cabral and added that since this hospital is central hospital for people residing in remote areas of Sanguem and Quepem talukas besides Curchorem and nearby areas, it require latest equipments/machinery along with availability of specialized doctors at the centre and that he has already written to chief minister and health minister to make provision so that people get all the facilities instead of rushing to Margao for medical treatment for a tleast next 50 years.
Speaking about Ravindra Bhavan open air auditorium project which is under construction, he said, that 55 per cent of the work has been completed and the interior design work would commence soon once the remaining work completed by end of April this year. “After convincing the property owners, their consent has been obtained to acquire the 6,000 square meters land for Rs180 crore project of Sewerage Treatment Plant (STP) which would be tendered soon after completion of acquisition process,” Cabral informed.
He assured that all the projects will start functioning within the next 6 to 7 years including Rs 48 crores library building which would be constructed near the GSUDA market, Curchorem.
