TCP minister tags Congress as ‘disruptive organisation’

Ridicules party’s boycott practice at R-Day celebration in Margao

MARGAO: Terming the Congress party as a “disruptive organisation”, Town and Country Planning (TCP) Minister Vijai Sardesai ridiculed the boycott practice of the party as none of the Congress MLAs were present for the Republic Day celebration at Margao.
Only MLA Churchill Alemao and ex-minister Avertano Furtado were present.
“The Congress is not even a proper opposition and we have to play the role of the Opposition despite being in the government,” said Vijai pointing out that it was he who raised up the issue of requiring permission from the Indian Navy for development around the airport.
“Seeking Navy’s permission for any development in the radius of 20 kms is ridiculous and we have demanded that Navy’s permission be taken only considering the landing funnel and an area within 4 kms radius of the airport,” he said and pointed out that the Congress was silent on this issue.
He thanked Union Minister Suresh Prabhu for acceding to his demand that announcements in aircrafts at Dabolim airport be made in Konkani and added that Konkani is language of Goa and Goans and should be respected.
Refusing to comment on the feud between two ministers at the cabinet meeting, he however did say that the MGP appears to be demanding too much but added that the government is very strong and steady.
