PANJIM: Tarun Tejpal has been allowed to use a scribbling pad and pen in the Sada sub-jail, where he is lodged since December 11, 2013, for allegedly rape, in November 2013.
The Fast Track Court granted him the permission based on the jailor’s reply which did not raise any objection to this request.
On March 21, Tejpal sought permission from the court to use the stationary “to take down legal notes.”
Judge Vijaya Pol had sought the jailor’s reply, who in his submission to the Court said, “As per the jail manual, the same facility may be provided to him at jail canteen.”
His lawyer told reporters outside the Court that Tejpal will be allowed to purchase the stationary through the money order that is sent to his jail cell by family members.
Meanwhile, the three applications filed by Tejpal and the Crime Branch will be argued on Saturday. In one application Tejpal contends that Crime Branch chargesheet had disclosed the victim’s identity including her mobile phone number and emails. In his other plea he had sought complete copy of the chargesheet along with CD of the CCTV footage of the hotel from November 7-10, 2013.
While the CB has submitted an application about filing a supplementary
chargesheet as Hollywood actor Robert De Niro, a crucial witness in the case, is yet to respond to their queries. Besides it also has to collect evidence such as forensic report on the material collected from the Tehelka offices at various places.
