MARGAO: United Goans Democratic Party Secretary General Adv Anacleto Viegas said the Congress has this time fielded a reasonably good candidate for the South Goa Lok Sabha seat.
“The UGDP has nothing to comment on the Congress’ decision to field Reginaldo. We feel that this time a reasonably good candidate has been fielded by the Congress, a young and dynamic candidate, who has worked for the society and is a hard worker”, Anacleto said.
He welcomed Reginaldo’s candidature, saying the people were tired of the old and tested horses such as Churchill Alemao and Francisco Sardinha.
On Churchill’s decision to contest the April 12 Lok Sabha poll, Anacleto said only the former PWD Minister knows what his vested interests are in contesting the coming poll. “Churchill is a turncoat and is a habitual politician, having changed many parties in his career. He is deceiving the people of Goa. Last time around the people of Goa had taught him a lesson. He would know his fate if at all he contests again”, Anacleto added. Anacleto’s stand on the Congress candidate assumes significance and comes against the backdrop of the support extended by party senior vice-president Radharao Gracias to Reginaldo’s candidature.
