Telaulim gram sabha demands govt acquired land for MRF shed

MARGAO: The Telaulim village panchayat on Sunday resolved to demand government the acquired land for MRF shed in order to tackle the garbage problem.

It was also decided to hike fees for issuing income certificate, water and electricity connections in order to generate revenue for the panchayat.

The gram sabha was chaired by Sarpanch Stevan Goes who approved the budget for the next financial year focusing on generating revenue.

As informed by the Sarpanch, upon the proposal of Benjamin Pires, it has been resolved to urge the government to allot the land acquired in the panchayat area for erecting a bigger MRF shed.

“The present MRF shed is small and hence we are facing a tough time to tackle the garbage problem. There land is already acquired by the government and upon the suggestions of the villagers, the panchayat have resolved to ask that land for a bigger MRF shed,” he informed.

Sarpanch said that recently training was held for the elected members wherein the government authorities had to find resources in generating revenue and hence gram sabha has resolved to hike the fees towards issuing income certificates, NOC’s for water and electricity connections from Rs 100 to Rs 200.

At the, gram sabha residents of Bellem strongly opposed the construction of structures in the fields and demanded to revoke the licence issued by the panchayat.

“The concerned party was already in possession of all the necessary permissions including permission from the TCP and hence the panchayat had told the residents to challenge it before the concerned department. Panchayat cannot revoke the licence when the concerned party has all the permissions with them”, said Sarpanch.
