Tenders invited for commissioning solar greenhouse ‘Dryer’ unit

PANJIM: The Goa Energy Development Agency (GEDA) has invited tenders for commissioning a 600 square feet solar greenhouse ‘Dryer’ unit at Colva. This is for drying of fish at the Directorate of Fisheries Complex at Colva.

The unit is cladded with polycarbonate sheets.

This is done in order to filter the UV rays effectively and protect the material which could otherwise impact the final quality of the dried product.

The size of the dryer will be 17 feet width and 36 feet length and 9 feet height. The Tender will be opened on June 25.

Universally, such dryers are meant to dehydrate farm produce and protect it from the vagaries of climate and are considered to be an efficient, decentralized, cost-effective and sustainable solution for reducing post-harvest losses in agricultural commodities.

The ventilation system, which ensures air circulation inside the unit and removes moisture, is entirely powered by solar panels.
