BICHOLIM: Tension prevailed at Bicholim market on Wednesday when a vegetable vendor from Bijapur-Karnataka stabbed a bull with a knife.
According to reports, being a Bazaar day, there was rush in the market. A stray bull along with some other cattle which were in the market suddenly started eating some vegetables from the market.
Angered over this, the vegetable vendor stabbed the bull with the knife. As the news spread across the market, locals confronted the vegetable seller and handed him over to the police. The locals also demanded that non-Goans be not allowed to sell vegetables on Wednesday.
As the situation got tense, police rushed to the spot and arrested the vegetable vendor.
The market was later resumed and the vendors were allowed to carry on with the business. The accused was arrested under Section 429 IPC. PSI Datta Kamat is investigating the case under the guidance of PI Ninad Deulkar.
