* Even Congress workers in Goa do not have trust in the Goa Congress
* The Congress activities are like a replay of a YouTube video of 2017
The Congress, in the manner that it is without leadership or direction and with workers and leaders leaving it, is giving oxygen to the BJP, during these pandemic times.
When a senior Congress organisation person who has been with the party for 28 years, which is five times the age of some parties which are going to contest the elections, along with a co-senior worker, saying they feel orphaned and isolated, it speaks of the utter mess and the lack of direction, the Congress in Goa is in.
It looks like the orphaned Congress workers and leaders are praying to Saint Mother Teresa for help.
From whatever they have mentioned, it is clear that do not have any trust in the Goa leadership and some of its senior leaders. They charge that their party has given no support and encouragement to grassroots workers. And most importantly they have charged their party of going ahead with moves to form an alliance with the Goa Forward Party by ignoring the desires of the Congress workers and the block which has battled the GFP in Fatorda.
And not only in Fatorda. Just like Covid spread from China, the political Covid pandemic of new members joining or alliances being planned, without informing local workers and leaders have spread to Velim and Cuncolim. In Velim, Benjamin Silva was brought in without any consultation with the local unit while in Cuncolim, Elvis Gomes was inducted after orders from Delhi leading to divisions in the local unit. This pandemic of political unrest is likely to spread to other parts of Goa
The replay of the Youtube video of the 2017 elections and after can be seen
In 2017 when their party could have easily formed the government but they felt had been backstabbed by the AICC desk in charge and political deals were struck. The same thing is being repeated. The same pattern is witnessed.
People will not tolerate conductors, dealers or betrayers
Do people want to see the same process of distributing tickets like a conductor to four or five different people in the constituency and finally offering it to one and creating four enemies? The ticket is finally given to the bidder and the people have no say.
Does the party want such conductors?
People want real leaders, not dealers. Those who make arrangements with the ruling party, do deals to field weak candidates and make arrangements to split votes.
Finally, betrayers are not wanted. They will have a bad time
It’s like old wine in a new bottle: The lessons of 2012 have not been learnt, the same leaders, the same mistakes and same attitude continues
Will people vote the same lot of old leaders back again? Those who have bribery charges, those who have other corruption and scam charges? Do people want to see them again, they who do not even know who their friends are? Do they want to see the same wheeling-dealing again?
The present leadership does not care for the people and are busy supplying political oxygen and making arrangements with parties. This is why when people leave and go the party doesn’t even talk to them or ask why are they leaving.
The way the Congress is conducting itself, makes it look more like a sinking ship, which is going down rapidly, has appointed senior leader P Chidambaram as a central observer to oversee the party. But what will he observe as the ship is sinking? The party is lost to the people.
Most importantly, the party has lost trust that will take forever to repair
This is the party’s biggest loss, more than the loss of its base and political standing. It has lost the trust it has. And with trust, has gone the belief that the party is serious about Goa and Goans. In 2007 it won back the trust after losing power. In 2017, it had built back that trust again till people were badly let down. This time it seems that the trust is not visible. And that is where the Congress has lost the most.
