PANJIM: Goa Police are trying to piece together missing links in the death of 19-year-old girl as multiple teams have been formed to ascertain her movements before she went missing from Guirim-Mapusa. The North Goa Police, assisted by Crime Branch are also scrutinising the mobile phone, questioning her acquaintances and scanning through CCTV footage looking for clues.

Sources told Herald that three teams have been posted at Mapusa, Porvorim and the coastal stretch of Calangute. “We are trying to track her last movements. Our technical team is scrutinising the mobile phone while our investigation team is questioning every person she was in touch with. We have also found CCTV footage wherein her father is seen en route to Green Park, along with his daughter,” said a police source.
The family, that is now claiming foul play into the death, had earlier claimed the victim was disturbed and often feared she and her family would die of COVID-19. The 19-year-old was infected with the virus on April 27 and had recovered too but convincing her to step out of the house thereafter was tough for the family.
The father had in his statement to the police on August 12 not suspected foul play in the wake of her behaviour during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. “I do not suspect any foul play into the death of my daughter as she might have committed suicide under depression,” is what the father had then said.
However, her movements before going missing are yet to be established even as the investigation continues. The probe is likely to also unravel the mystery behind the partially missing clothes of the teen.
