PONDA: Unknown persons broke into a bungalow located at an isolated place in Khadpabandh and decamped with cash and gold ornaments worth around Rs 2.5 lakh.
According to police, the thieves broke open the main door of the bungalow of one Dilip Kamat located a few metres away from Gulmohar Society and ransacked the cupboards. However, some gold ornaments such as bangles, which the thieves damaged (bent) were found on the floor. The police informed that the thieves suspected that the bangles were fake and hence damaged and threw them on the floor.
Dilip’s son filed a police complaint. According to Police, Dilip’s family comprising his wife, son, daughter-in-law and grandson had left for his daughter’s house in Margao on Saturday. Dilip had gone to Margao for his wife’s medical treatment. After returning home on Sunday, the family was shocked to find the main door open and the gold ornaments and cash worth Rs 2.5 lakh stolen.
Police later pressed the dog squad and fingerprint expert into service.
Police have registered an offence against unknown persons and are conducting further investigations.
