Thousands Throng Sankhali for Thrilling Veerabhadra Performance at Chaitra Festival in Vitthalapur

The vibrant Veerabhadra performance, a key attraction of the annual Chaitra Festival at Vitthalapur, concluded in the early hours of Friday, drawing thousands of devotees and spectators.

Coinciding with the Good Friday holiday, the event witnessed an overwhelming turnout, with people gathering in large numbers to witness the dramatic and spiritually charged spectacle. The performance featured the Veerabhadra character showcasing high-energy dance movements while wielding swords, followed by a powerful display of his fierce persona during the trance state, locally known as Avsar.

Accompanied by the rhythmic beats of traditional instruments like the Taal (cymbals) and Mrudanga (drum), the performance captivated the audience. The Veerabhadra act from Sankhali is widely renowned across Goa, consistently attracting massive crowds eager to witness the intense and electrifying ritual.

To ensure safety and smooth conduct of the event, a significant police presence was deployed to manage the crowd and maintain order.

The Chaitra Festival concluded later in the morning with a grand chariot procession, marking the end of the celebrations on a high note.
