PANJIM: The Panjim police have launched an inquiry into a complaint filed by Corporator Menino Da Cruz alleging that unknown miscreants have damaged three benches, provided by the GSIDC, at Mala Lake.
In his complaint to Panjim Police on Wednesday, Cruz said that he suspects the role of more than one person in the crime.
“Out of three benches, the miscreants tried to burn two benches and one bench was damaged by throwing it away from its original location. It is not the work of one person as these benches are very heavy and at least two-three persons or more are required to lift one bench, as they have been taken away from the original place by more than 50 to 60 metres away,” he stated.
The benches were provided by former chief minster late Manohar Parrikar through the GSIDC, to be fitted near the toilet situated at Mala Lake.
Sources said that the police have begun preliminary inquiry into the matter after which appropriate action would be taken. If required, the police source said, the investigation team might take the assistance of the departments’ concerned.
