PONDA/PANJIM: The Ponda police arrested two individuals from Rajasthan for possessing narcotic drugs worth over Rs 14 lakh. Acting on reliable information, a police team conducted a late-night raid at Farmagudi on Tuesday.
The accused individuals were identified as Budharam Bishnoi, 56 and Jagdish Bishnoi, 46, both hailing from different villages of Sanchore district, Rajasthan. They were found to be in illegal possession of 96.66 grams and 48.55 grams, respectively, of psychotropic drugs, believed to be MDMA. The total quantity seized amounted to 145.21 grams, with an approximate value of Rs 14,52,100. The accused had reportedly arrived to deliver the drugs to prospective customers.
The seized drugs were confiscated under a search and seizure panchanama. A case has been registered under Section 22 (C) of the NDPS Act, 1985.
In a separate incident, a British national was arrested by the Old Goa police on Wednesday, on the charge of possessing 95 grams of narcotics at Chorao Island.
The police apprehended Simon Ashley, 41, and seized 95 grams of cannabis from him. The total value of the seized drugs is Rs 95,000 approximately.
The accused, hailing from Chertsey, UK was staying in a rented house at Maddel, Chorao.
