PANJIM: Three persons from Mumbai and Uttar Pradesh were arrested in separate drug raids carried out by Panjim police on Tuesday. The teams also seized contraband from their possession, collective amount of which is estimated at Rs 35,500. The total weight of the seized drugs suspected to be ganja was 355 gms.
Police Inspector Siddhant Shirodkar said the raids were carried out near Joggers Park, Altinho, Divja Circle and near the Directorate of Health Services, Campal. At the first venue, Shalu Kale was caught with the drugs while Suraj Pawar, both hailing from Mumbai, was arrested from Divja Circle. In the third raid Maya Shankar was arrested in the raid near the Health Services. The woman has been living at Sancoale and is a native of Uttar Pradesh.
“We have booked them under different relevant sections of the NDPS Act and their interrogation is underway,” the PI said.
Crime Branch on Monday had arrested Anjuna local Arjun Chodankar for allegedly possessing charas worth Rs 25,000. He was caught in a raid near St Anthony Hospital at Anjuna.
