Three minor siblings allegedly kidnapped from Salcete village

MARGAO: Three minor children, including one student, were allegedly kidnapped from the lawful guardianship of their parents from one village of Salcete. The eldest is a girl aged 16 , while the youngest is an 11-year-old girl and their brother is aged 13. Cuncolim police disclosed that the family is originally from West Bengal.

According to police the incident occurred on Friday morning and police are on the look out for the three children. 

Cuncolim PI Diogo Gracias disclosed that wireless messages have been sent all over Goa and nearby states giving description of the missing children adding that though the incident occurred on Friday, the father lodged his complaint only on Saturday.

Police have registered an offence under Section 363 of IPC for kidnapping and Section 8 of Goa Children Act.

PI Gracias said that after registering the case, police visited the house from where the children were kidnapped and during the inquiry it was revealed that the youngest one got up on Friday morning and after having breakfast left for her school, the younger sister and brother left for school accompanied by their elder sister. But all three did not return home, even late Friday evening.

According to police, the children live with their father and step-mother after their mother died some years back following which the father re-married.

Police disclosed that the parents work as labourers and are addicted to alcohol. Police checked with the children’s uncles living in Calangute, Sanquelim and Verna, but the children were not there.

The motive for kidnapping is not known even as police are in the process of recording their father and step-mother’s statements. Police disclosed that the children’s father had no enmity with anybody. Further investigations are on.
