Three projects: MLA requests CM to listen to children’s demand

MARGAO: Congress Curtorim MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco on Monday requested the Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant to listen to the children of Goa in the rescinding of these three allegedly environmentally disastrous projects.

He accused that the arrogant and haughty Centre would never ever listen to the voice of Goenkars as it is directed by crony capitalist like Adani etc.

He was referring to the last Sunday’s (November 15) interaction with a group of Goan children who had expressed their concern with the Centrally financed infrastructural projects and had placed their demands of getting the transportation of coal/coke stopped from MPT to Karnataka and cancellation of double tracking of South Western Railway (SWR) Line.

“However, the Chief Minister in his reply expressed reluctance by stating that it was not possible to stop the projects financed by the Centre,” Reginaldo reminded.

“Like other Goenkars, I fail to understand why double tracking of SWR line cannot be stopped for good as you, yourself (the Chief Minister) has vowed in the same interaction with the children to get the present level of coal transportation from Goa to the thermal and steel plants of Karnataka reduced by more than half of the existing level within a year’s time. Why does Goa require double tracking of SWR line if you are planning to reduce the transportation of coal by 50 per cent within a year?” asked the Congress legislator.

“I would also like to once again remind your good self that all the three Centrally financed infrastructural development projects would be passing through Mollem National Park an abode for biodiversity marvel. I would appeal to you to play a Saviour role for Goa by getting the double tracking, the four-lane Panaji-Belgaum National Highway NH 4-A, and placing of power transmission line (High Tension Line) projects cancelled,” requested Reginaldo to the Chief Minister.
