PANJIM: A complaint has been filed, against the mining firm Sociedade Timblo Irmaos Ltd, with Directorate of Mines and Geology (DMG), for illegally dumping extracted iron ore which is lying unused on government land at Kirlapal-Dodli village at Sanguem Taluka.
The complaint copy forwarded to Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar had demanded immediate probe into the entire episode. The complainant, Ashok Patil, former sarpanch of Kirlapal-Dodli village, has alleged involvement of local BJP MLA Ganesh Gaonkar into the illegal mining business.
The complainant pointed out that Sociedade Timblo Irmaos Ltd formed a company in the names of B G Associates in order to carry on mining activities and the village panchayat, illegally issuing Non Objection Certificate (NOC) allowed dumping of iron ore on 10,000 sq mtrs government land having survey number 54.
“It is surprising to note that how the government property can be utilized by the private company with NOC from village panchayat for carrying out mining activity without paying any revenue to the government,” Patil said in his complaint.
Patil alleged that the local political leader in collusion with the mining company carried out the illegal business. The complaint has attached documents procured under RTI including NOC and the resolution passed by the village panchayat with the complaint copy.
“I therefore request you to conduct an immediate enquiry based on the documentary evidence produced before you to find out the illegal iron ore dumped in the said government property,” Patil said adding that huge amount of iron ore is lying at the site, since the ban was imposed by the Supreme Court.
