PONDA: Twenty-four passengers were injured, after a bus met with an accident at Apewal-Priol on Friday morning.
According to reports, 18 passengers were discharged after administering first aid at Ponda Sub-District Hospital, while six injured passengers were moved to GMC Hospital in Bambolim, out of which three were discharged later.
According to Ponda Police, the accident occurred at about 9.30 am when the driver of the Keri-Ponda bus, which was proceeding to Ponda, lost control of the vehicle at a sharp turn in Apewal-Priol and the bus rammed against the retaining wall.
Police said the impact of the accident was such that front axle detached from the bus and the bus went partly over the retaining wall.
Police further informed that the injured passengers were rushed to Ponda Sub-District Hospital, from where six persons were shifted to GMC Hospital. Ponda Police registered the case and detained bus driver Vijendra Naik.
