PANJIM: The CRCC Chinchinim-Deussua Cup football witnessed one of the most exciting matches of the tournament so far when San Miguel, Taleigao went down fighting via the tie-breaker to Varca SC by an aggregate score of 9-8.
The game ended in a 2-2 even after extra time.
Cedric Peixoto got things moving for San Miguel, Taleigao with a goal scored within a few seconds of kick-off.
Varca equalised after 10th minute through the boots of Elvis Fernandes. Cedric Peixoto again put San Miguel in the lead in the 19th minute with another direct kick at goal.
San Miguel scored the equalizer in the 40th minute of the math through Jesus Furtado.
The extra time also did not prove too helpful in determining a result.
In the reluctant tie-breaker Elvis Fernandes (2), Ovelon Fernandes, Carmo Rebello, Velron Rodrigues, Jesus Furtado, Leo Martins score for Varca SC while Rohan Viegas, Cedric Peixoto, Ferron Fernandes, Ramesh Parker, Vardhan Haldankar, Ashley Fernandes scored for San Miguel.
Though he found himself on the losing side, Cedric Peixoto won the man-of-the-match award for displaying some brilliant football on the field. He received the prize at the hands of Adv Agnelo Fernandes, former president of Lions Club of Chinchinim.
