MARGAO: Congress Legislative Party Leader Digambar Kamat has expressed his commitment to stand by youth in commitment to save the environment and nature. Digambar said that he appreciates the efforts of young citizens Chrisene Oliveira, Ninoschka Pinto and Lorraine Fernandes, who called on him on Monday and handed over a memorandum raising concerns over three proposed projects at Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary and Mollem National Park.
“I have promised them my complete support,” stated Leader of Opposition.
“The young generation is now coming out in support of preserving the environment and nature. Today, various youth organisations are actively participating in Save Wildlife campaigns. This is a positive sign and it is our duty to stand by them,” Kamat said.
“The three projects passing through Mollem National Park and Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary will cause destruction to the environment with almost 60,000 trees required to be cut. This damage is irreparable and the government must rethink about the project,” he added.
“I have already assured my complete support to the people of Cansaulim with regards to their opposition to doubling of the railway tracks,” Kamat said.
