VASCO: Airport Authority of India, Dabolim Airport Director Gagan Malik on Tuesday informed that the imposed toll fee is as per the AAI guidelines and the new government policy which they will continue to impose unabated.
Malik urged the taxi operators to understand the government’s policy. He also mentioned that the decision to impose toll fee is being implemented under the department’s directives which are applicable across India.
Explaining about the toll fee, Malik said, “There are no excess charges on private and commercial vehicles which come at the airport to drop passengers. They have the time span of 10 minutes from entry till exit and within given time if these vehicles are going out of the airport then they won’t be charged excess fee.”
He further said, “The excess fee is being charged on those vehicles which are doing business by picking the passengers from the airport. Private vehicles as well as commercial vehicles which are entering the airport to drop their passengers and are exiting the premise within 10 minutes are exempted from the charges. This policy comes under AAI and it was imposed on Dabolim Airport since April 2019. Initially, efforts were made to implement this policy by engaging the AAI employees but due to some hurdles recently this policy was given to an agency via e-tender open window process to implement it.”
Further commenting on the issue, Director Malik revealed that so far no one has met him in person to discuss the issue of toll fee. If law and order situation crops up in this issue then we will have no other option rather than undertake legal recourse and contact the government law enforcement agencies.
