VASCO: Curtorim MLA Aleixo Reginaldo on Tuesday met the taxi operators at Dabolim and demanded scrapping of toll fee completely at the airport
He also said that the traffic police should regulate the traffic congestion at the airport.
Initially, taxi union leaders along with MLA Reginaldo were supposed to meet the contractor, who charges toll fee and the airport director, but due to some internal issues from the taxi union the plan was shelved.
Speaking to media, MLA Reginaldo warned of agitation at Dabolim Airport if the charging of toll fee is not stopped completely within two days time.
He also claimed that there are airports such as Patna, Hyderabad, New Delhi and Kanpur, which are not charging the toll fee.Further Reginaldo expressed his surprise that the contractor who is accepting the toll fee is non Goan.
He blamed the local MLA and Minister Mauvin Godinho for not promoting and backing the Goans in having larger share in terms of jobs at the Dabolim Airport.
He also mentioned that there should not be any toll fee imposed on the airport visitors and only traffic police should be made to regulate traffic congestion at the airport premise.
