Traffic Sentinel Scheme still operational

MARGAO: The Superintendent of Police, Traffic Cell Panjim has clarified that the “Traffic Sentinel Scheme” is still in operation and has not been withdrawn.
He was replying to the news of the “Traffic Sentinel Scheme” sending challans of violations committed by old owners to new owners.  The SP Traffic said that everyday members of public are getting themselves enrolled as traffic sentinels. Since its inception, till November 20, a total of 7,813 traffic sentinels have enrolled themselves.
The SP also said that further, upon receipt of the violation through Goa Traffic Sentinel App a notice under M V Act 1988 is generated after fetching ownership details from the Vahan portal. “In the present case prior to the compounding of the violation of M V Act, the complainant could have very well brought it to the notice of the Challaning Officer about the change of ownership for enabling the police officer to cause a further inquiry into the matter,” said the SP Traffic Cell.
