Traffic wardens appointed: dept

PANJIM: Battling staff shortage, the traffic department is nonetheless making efforts to ensure various enforcement and regulation activities with the assistance of traffic wardens. In the last two months, the department has appointed 48-odd traffic wardens who are assisting traffic cells effectively at various points across the state.

PANJIM: Battling staff shortage, the traffic department is nonetheless making efforts to ensure various enforcement and regulation activities with the assistance of traffic wardens. In the last two months, the department has appointed 48-odd traffic wardens who are assisting traffic cells effectively at various points across the state. 
According to the Traffic Warden Scheme of Goa Traffic Police, a person – above the age of 18 years – with good record and character, good and sound physique will be appointed by SP as traffic warden. 
“They should be proficient in traffic rules and regulations and should have desire for community service,” reads the scheme booklet.  Traffic wardens especially deployed around schools during the peak hours, has been a huge help to the traffic police.  
“Efficient traffic management and adequate road safety cannot be ensured without the full co-operation from all categories of road users…the institution synthesizes the role of citizens in Goa by introducing traffic warden scheme,” reads the seven-page booklet which has also listed down duties and responsibilities, explications and other obligations for the traffic wardens.
