Tragedy strikes youth 4 days before wedlock

A 28-year-old man from Taripanto-Sanguem was barely four days away from his marriage when he was killed in a road mishap on Tuesday, after the motorcycle which he was driving was hit by a truck opposite Government Sports Complex, Sanguem.
According to Sanguem police, the accident occurred when Martin Fernandes was proceeding towards Sanguem on his motorcycle. The basalt stones-laden truck (GA-09-U-8818), which was in the process of overtaking a parked vehicle, dashed against the motorcycle driven by the deceased.
Incidentally, the deceased was scheduled to get married on May 8 and all arrangements had been made for the marriage celebrations.
Angered over the mishap, residents of Sanguem have called for total bandh of all transportation activities involving mining trucks till the funeral ceremony of the deceased, which is reportedly scheduled for May 7.
Sanguem police arrested the truck driver and placed him under arrest under Section 304A and 279 IPC.
