PANJIM: After successfully launching complaint app, Transport department has now commenced dispatching the smart RC (Registration Certificate) and Driving Licence through post at your postal address.
Director Transport Nikhil Desai informed that the department has tied up with India Post for delivering the smart cards at the door step of the people.
The finance department and government have already approved the project and it has been put into implementation, Desai said.
He informed that the person will be intimated through an SMS on their registered mobile number and the mail would be delivered at the respective residence in due time.
“We are in a move to have a 100 percent transparency in the department and the government is very firm on it, in some time all the services will be online,” Desai said.
The System will be managed in joint coordination with India Post with which Directorate of Transport has tied up for rapid dispatch of Smart Cards by Speed Post service.  The officials of Goa Electronics Limited (GEL) will manage the system and send SMS alerts, prepare the Smart Cards and hand over to the representative of Postal Department on daily basis for onward delivery to the respective beneficiaries.
This is expected to reduce the long queues at RTO offices and provide door step services to the applicants. SMS alerts will also inform the applicants the status of their smart cards.
