PANJIM: Former Transport Minister and MGP MLA Ramkrishna ‘Sudin’ Dhavalikar has called for the immediate resignation of Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho over his failure to implement the amended Moto Vehicle Act (MV) in the State.

Addressing a press conference, Dhavalikar blamed the State government for the recent fatal accident at Verna.
“I demand an explanation why amended Act has not been implemented in Goa yet. It is not an Act amended by UPA or Congress it is done by NDA government so why is it delayed? I think he must resign or the Chief Minister must sack him” Sudin demanded.
The former deputy chief minister said the delay, which is resulting in loss of lives, clearly shows there is a nexus between the truck owners, taxi owners and the transport minister.
Blaming the government for the Verna accident, Sudin alleged that the police and traffic cops have full knowledge where bike races take place in Goa but they turn blind eye to this.
“If the new Act is implemented the provision is such that the parents can even be jailed,” he said.
On the Mhadei issue, Dhavalikar alleged that Chief Minister Pramod Sawant was again lying to the people of Goa on Mhadei diversion.
“Instead of meeting union ministers, he should meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” Sudin said.
He added that the Mhadei issue has involvement of four departments and no one minister can help.
“Union Environment Minister Prakash Javdekar had promised a committee to look into the matter. What happened to that committee? Nobody knows. This shows the ministers have no powers,” he said.
Dhavalikar further charged that the chief minister’s meetings in Delhi are just election stunts.
“We think it is enough now and the MGP will now write a letter to PM addressing all illegalities of Karnataka and issues of Goa,” he said.
On Zilla Parishad elections, he said the MGP would contest 17 seats and support two like-minded candidates.
“There is no formal alliance with Congress,” he added.
