Curchorem Fire Station Officer (FSO) Dilip Gauns informed that they received nine calls from various places of trees falling and one call of fire where a hut at Bamon waddo, Cacora, Curchorem caught fire.
“The hut of Pedru Fernandes accidently caught fire when they were heating water. The fire tender reached at the site and doused the fire which is adjacent to his main house and prevented the fire from further spreading to the main house.” informed Gauns. At Pajimoll-Sanguem, a huge jackfruit tree came crashing down on the house of Umesh Naik and caused damages of around Rs 35,000. Luckily no one was injured.
Many trees had fallen on the roads at Mirabag-Curchorem, Sulcorna and Avedem-Paroda.
