CURCHOREM: A huge tree that stands tall near the railway footbridge, behind the newly-constructed public toilets poses a threat to the passersby and nearby properties, as it stands in a precarious manner.
Fearing that it may come down at any moment, as it stand on the edge on the railway property around 10 meters above the busiest road, locals have been demanding to cut it down immediately, before any damage to property or causality is reported.
Recently, around 60 metres from where the tree stands, a huge banyan tree had come crashing down, damaging three kiosks, two electric poles and snapping electrical wires, thus plunging the entire area into darkness which took the electricity department more than 24 hours to restore the power line.
Since the incident took place late night on June 28, no casualty occurred as there was no traffic on the road and the kiosks were closed.
