BICHOLIM: Traffic was blocked at several places in Bicholim following tree uprooting incidents due to incessant rains.
The rise water levels flooded the Sanquelim market as Bicholim mamlatdar Pravinjay Pandit, WRD Assistant Engineer K P Naik and councillors Anand Kanekar, Vinayak Pangam inspected the market. Dewatering at Sanquelim pumping station was carried out.
A huge tree leaning on an electric pole at Warchawada, Advalpal was cleared by fire personnel. The electricity department officials disconnected the power supply in the area to enable fire personnel to clear the tree on the directions Bicholim Mamlatdar.
A mango tree crashed on the house of one Shekhar Manjrekar at Madhalawada, Sal. The loss was estimated to be around Rs1 lakh as per Talathi’s preliminary assessment report.
A Sagwan tree collapsed on the house of Satyawati Gaonkar at Latambarcem. The loss was estimated to be around Rs 50,000.
Another tree collapsed on the house of Kavita Prabhugaokar at Mulgao. As per the preliminary assessment report of Talathi the loss is estimated to be around Rs 20,000. No casualties were reported.
