MARGAO: National School of Drama, New Delhi will organise “Aadi Rangam”, the National Tribal Festival of Theatre, Music, Dance & Crafts of India from May 18 to 20 at Govt. Primary School Ground, Shirlim, Barcem.
The festival is being organised in collaboration with Directorate of Art & Culture, Govt of Goa for the first time in the State.
Over 550 tribal artistes from over 17 states of India from across the country will participate.
Art & Culture Minister Govind Gaude said he wishes to promote hinterland tourism, which is generally buried under the sun, sand and casino image of Goa.
Art forms such as Ghasia Baja/ Lohari Baja, Sangrai Mog, Singhari dance, Ghantu, Dhal Thungri, Santhal dance, Gussadi, Raibensha dance, Mamita dance, Aghakutsa Lejo, Rugala / Wangla, Boya dance, Terataali, Jabaro & Mask dance, Daangi dance, Juju Jaja, sahariya swang, Naga war dance, Gaund Maria dance/ Hulki dance, Been Jogi, Shongi Mukahute and Chhau will be performed.
Participants from Tripura, Odisha, Sikkim, Assam, West Bengal, Telangana, Nagaland, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Ladakh, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Maharashtra and Goa will be a part of the mega event.
A craft mela will be organized as part of the festival, which will showcase the works of the tribal craftsmen from across the country.
A national seminar will also be organised on importance of music and dance in tribal performing arts.
