Truck rams into a car at Guirim

Two car occupants escape with minor injuries

MAPUSA: Two occupants of a car escaped with minor injuries when a truck rammed into their vehicle at Guirim on Tuesday morning. 
The occupants namely C Shekaran and Ratnakar Challan, both residents of Porvorim, who were travelling in a car, suffered minor shoulder injuries and were taken to Goa Medical College and Hospital at Bambolim. Traffic along the Panjim-Mapusa route was blocked for a while.
According to Mapusa Police, they received information about the accident at around 11.20 a.m. The car owner has claimed to have suffered a loss of around Rs 30,000.
“Both the vehicles were proceeding towards Mapusa when the front tyre of the truck burst due to which the truck driver lost control and rammed the vehicle into the car. The impact was such that the car landed on the road divider,” said Mapusa Police.
Head Constable and Investigating Officer, Ulhas Gaonkar said, “Both the injured persons were provided treatment at GMC and later discharged”.
