PANJIM: The Children’s Court on Tuesday discharged Headmaster of Don Bosco High School, Tuem Fr Edwin Baracho, along with three teachers Clifford Nimos, Melroy Mascarenhas and Inacio Pires, from charges of negligence as four students had drowned during a trek in 2019.
Four students studying at Don Bosco High School, Tuem – namely Danish Shaikh, Jonas Dias, Prince Das and Fredrick Fernandes, all aged between 11 and 14 years, had drowned in a water-filled laterite quarry in Tuem on September 14, 2019. The students were residing at the hostel premises. They were among 44 students, who were taken for trekking by the school authorities.
Of the five students, four drowned, whose parents later filed a complaint against the concerned persons before the Children’s Court alleging negligence resulting in their children’s death by drowning
