PANJIM: The dilapidated state and lack of renovation of the Tuem Government Hospital in Pernem have sparked an outcry among the locals.
The residents claim the hospital has been in a state of disrepair for the past seven years, with no action taken to renovate it.
They appealed to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and Health Minister Vishwajit Rane to address the issue immediately.
Speaking to reporters, Mandrem sarpanch Prashant Naik said the government was giving date after date for the renovation work. “When the BJP leaders came to seek vote, we told them that there is an issue but now they have been elected but they have forgotten about the hospital. We have again told the leaders that this issue is important but it is not raised in the Assembly. I would like to tell them that they should keep their politics aside and resolve the issues faced by the Pednekars,” Naik said.
“There are many people who do not reach Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) on time due to which they lose their lives,” the sarpanch said.
Baskar Narulkar, a local resident, said urged Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and Health Minister Vishwajit Rane to take the issue seriously and resolve it.
“We demand that they do not play with the health of the people and resolve the issue as soon as possible,” Narulkar said.
