MARGAO: Ashok D’Costa of Turbo Sketch on Thursday assured Margao Municipal Councillors that his staff would be present at the MMC building on Friday morning to assist them in understanding the Land Use Map and also assist them in filing their objections.
He was called to the MMC on Thursday to explain to the councilors the Land Use Map as many of them pleaded helplessness in understanding the whole concept. Significantly, only 13 of the 25 councilors were present while the Chairperson Dr Babita Prabhudessai is out of station.
Tito Cardoso who is the acting chairperson chaired the meeting and asked Ashok to explain the map to the councilors. However, as councilors pointed out that they wanted the area represented by them to be explained properly to them, Ashok agreed to send his team on Friday to assist the councillors.
Councilors Ketan Kurtarkar, Doris Teixeira, Rupesh Mahatme participated in the discussion.
and raised various questions. However, as the discussion was going on endlessly it was decided to sit with each councillor with map of his or her area and explain the reality to them.
The councillors were asked to point out structures, roads, open spaces, religious structures and schools that have been missed out on the map so that the same can be incorporated. While expressing happiness over the extension granted by the SGPDA to file objections, the councillors were confident that they would be able to meet the deadline now.
Rupesh Mahatme specifically asked Ashok to consult the municipal engineer and mark the around 40 properties belonging to the Margao Municipal Council with a separate colour so that they can be easily identified.
