PANJIM: Goa Cyber Crime Police has apprehended two African nationals in Delhi in Rs 37 lakh matrimonial website cheating racket. The accused were involved in cheating over 650 victims, whose database has been recovered.

In a press statement issued, the police said that Tsoupa Sébastien and Senehuoun Franck, residents of Mehrauli, have been apprehended. Police said that a complaint was received at Cyber Crime Police Station, wherein the complainant said that the accused had lured the victim by giving her a matrimonial proposal on website christianmatrimony.com by creating a fake profile.
“Thereafter, the criminal lured her by saying that he is sending her expensive gifts from a foreign country where he works as doctor. Thereafter, on the pretext of custom clearances for the foreign gifts, the criminals defrauded the victim of 37 lakh,” the police said.
During the investigation, the police realised that the crime was committed by an organised set of criminals with fake identities.
“Meticulous investigation resulted in identification of mainly two African nationals based in Delhi who were orchestrating the cheating. Both were apprehended in Delhi by team led PSI Devendra Pingle, Cyber Crime and South Delhi Police Police Inspector PK Jha,” police said. During the investigation, several mobile phones, sim card issued on fake identities were seized along with database of 650 victims from the two persons.
