VASCO: Two elderly women who earn their livelihood by selling vegetables in Vasco town were tricked by a trickster on Thursday morning. Both women were duped for their gold ornaments and mangalksutra on pretext of giving new sarees.
Police said that women were approached by a middle-age man offering brand new sarees to them to fulfill his mother’s wish on opening his new shop in Vasco.
The man requested them to come to his shop to collect the sarees. On reaching the shop, he asked the women to wrap their gold ornaments and mangalsutras in their sarees. Thereafter, leaving them there, he went away on the pretext of getting the keys of the shops. When the dupe did not return for a long time, the women unwrapped their saree and found stones in it. Vasco police are investigating the case.
