According to Vasco Police Inspector Sagar Ekoskar, the incident was reported when the escort police attached to Sada sub jail were ferrying two inmates namely Chandru Patil and Sameer Bepari back to jail from cottage hospital at Chicalim (after routine medical check) in the escort bus on Tuesday morning.
“When the inmates were brought back to jail, Chandru Patil started demanding one of the IRB staff to purchase cigarettes for him, while the IRB staff refused. This annoyed Patil who started abusing the IRB constable and later he pushed the IRB constable down.
At same time another inmate Sameer Bepari rushed towards the IRB police and started creating ruckus in the escort bus. He also damaged one of the windows of bus in anger. Anticipating trouble the driver of escort bus brought the bus to the Vasco police station. However, when they were taken inside the police station Sameer Bepari found a shaving blade thrown on the ground and started cutting himself with the blade on his hand.”
Vasco police have booked a case against both the accused under Sections 504, 353, 309 read with Section 34 of IPC and Section 3 of Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act, 1984.
