PANJIM: The District & Sessions Court has directed Panjim police to issue a 48-hour notice to Corporator Uday Madkaikar in case of his arrest in a forgery case.
Uday, Geeta Madkaikar and few others have been booked for allegedly forging an occupancy certificate. Uday thereafter moved the court seeking anticipatory bail. When the matter came up for hearing on Saturday, police submitted that they do not need his custody at present after which Uday was asked to withdraw his plea.  The court thereafter asked the police to issue 48 hour notice in case they need his custodial interrogation.
The Panjim police have recorded statement of several staff of the City Corporation and raided the office in a bid to find the file but in vain. The investigation team has also written to PWD and Electricity Department to know if the alleged forged certificate was submitted while TCP is requested to submit any plan of the building for which the certificate was issued.
