MARGAO: In response to concerns about alleged unauthorised food stalls at exhibitions, GOACAN has taken a proactive step by deciding to write to the Member Secretary of Ravindra Bhavan, Margao.
The organisation aims to address the issue by urging the Member Secretary not to permit exhibitions that feature food stalls lacking mandatory licenses from the Food and Drug Administration and Legal Metrology Departments of the Government of Goa. “The misconception among many consumers that the exhibition is organized by the Government of Rajasthan raises concerns about transparency and accurate information dissemination,” said Roland Martins of GOACAN.
In response to the claim that packets of eatables lack a date of packing, GOACAN has taken a proactive step by lodging a complaint with the senior Food Safety Officer.
The organization is seeking necessary action to address the absence of this critical information and has requested the closure of the stall in question.
By engaging with the Food Safety Officer, GOACAN aims to address the issue promptly, contributing to consumer protection and promoting adherence to regulations related to food packaging and labelling.
Later, after a complaint from GOACAN, inspectors from Legal Metrology seized food packets violating packaged commodities rules at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao.
