Unauthorised posters pasted on private properties during peak season raise concerns among locals

ARAMBOL: As the tourism season peaks in the State, stakeholders in the area are trying everything possible to make the most out of it. Many event organisers, restaurateurs, etc have pasted advertisements and posters on the walls of private houses, compounds and the electricity transformers. Locals have demanded that the panchayat take strict action against the violators.

“Electricity poles, transformers, private properties and compounds at Khalchawada are all smeared with advertisements of all sorts be it yoga classes or parties. I wonder if the officials of the electricity department have granted NOCs and taken charges from the parties concerned to paste posters in such a manner,” local Ramkrushna Majji said.

“Usually action is taken against posters of political leaders pasted on public properties, but on what basis are private business owners given permission to do so? Someone could lose their life while trying to put up these posters on the transformers,” former panch member Pravin Waigankar said.
