“We plan to do underground cabling of high tension lines for the entire State, but the estimate comes to Rs 25,000 crore. Until then, the problem will continue. For now, the work is carried out in five constituencies after a request from the respective MLAs,” he said at a press briefing on Friday.
The Electricity Department also plans to propose ‘aerial bunched cables’ at hinterlands. “The estimate is the lowest, and it has more relevance in areas of thick vegetation, especially during monsoon,” an official said, adding the consultants were already on the job.
