PONDA: Admitting that Shiroda constituency has been facing power interruptions, Power Minister Milind Naik said the government has plans to undertake an underground power cabling project worth Rs 45 crore in the constituency.
Naik was speaking at a meeting convened at the Dhavli Forest Rest House to hear power-related problems faced by the public.
Shiroda MLA and Industries Minister Mahadev Naik along with sarpanchas of various panchayats in Shiroda constituency, senior officials of the Electricity department were present at the meeting.
“The government is trying to undertake underground cabling in the State as most power outages occur due to trees uprooting and falling on power lines snapping them. Power interruptions also take place because many power lines pass through forest areas,” said the power minister. Mahadev Naik said he had arranged a meeting with the power minister, following several complaints by people from his constituency.
Sarpanchs Poonam Samant (Bethora), Sandesh Prabudesai (Shiroda) and Cristo D’Costa (Panchawadi) apprised the power minister of the various power challenges faced by their respective panchayats.
