PANJIM: An undertrial Russian accused of peddling drugs escaped from police custody after his case hearing in fast-track court in Panjim.
Russian national Makarov Maxim was caught red handed peddling hash oil in Morjim worth Rs 9 lakhs on September 30 this year. He was being tried in the fast-track Court in Panjim in the NDPS case.
Sources informed that he was in the court while his hearing concluded. However, he escaped the custody of the police after his hearing was over.
The police have acquired the CCTV footage of the escape of the accused and have alerted their intelligence to trace him down. The Panjim police have registered an offence against the Russian national and have started investigating the matter.
