VASCO: Returning to the Panchayat polls, former Sancoale ZP and ex-Sarpanch of Chicalim Panchayat Neelima Naik filed her nomination from ward no 2 of Chicalim Panchayat on Saturday
afternoon.
Speaking to the media , Naik said that the villagers had personally met her and forced her to file her nomination for the Panchayat elections.”I have been the ZP and sarpanch and also been an attorney of the Communidade body and had taken up development works during my tenure. However we have seen so many issues coming up and people have not seen much development works in our ward. The works that had been taken up by me years ago as the panch, sarpanch or the ZP are the only things that are exisiting in the ward and the people have felt neglected because there has been no development ever since,” said Naik. “The people have forced me to file my nomination for improving the village, because small projects like good drainage, gutters ,fogging, bush cutting etc, are taken up at Panchayat leve to give relief to the villagers. The villagers insisted that they want to have a panch who is a part of their ward, is well-connected within the village and understands the basic greivances faced by the people,” said Naik .
