PERNEM: Usha Nagvekar was on Thursday elected unopposed the 20th chairperson of Pernem Municipal Council (PMC). Manoj Harmalkar was elected unopposed as the vice-chairperson.
A special meeting was held to elect the new chairperson and vice-chairperson. Pernem Deputy Collector Ravi Shekhar Nipanikar declared Usha Nagvekar and Manoj Harmalkar as the new chairperson and vice-chairperson.
Nipanikar also administered oath to the newly-elected councillors– Usha Nagvekar, Tripti Saval Desai, Madhav Sinai Desai, Rakhi Kashaalkar, Ashwini Palayekar, Visakha Gadekar, Siddhesh Pednekar, Vishnu Salgaonkar and Shivram Tukoji. Chief Officer Sandeep Gawde was present.
Addressing media persons, newly-elected chairperson Usha attributed her victory to the voters and assured to develop all 10 wards. It may be recalled that Usha Nagvekar and Manoj Harmalkar filed nominations for the posts of chairperson and vice-chairperson on March 31.
