Valpoi police have arrested two persons in connection with the illegal transportation of beef from Belagavi, Karnataka, to Goa. The arrests were made at Chorla Ghat during a routine check, officials said on Saturday.
According to police, the meat was being transported illegally in two Innova vehicles without valid documents. Upon inspection, authorities seized a large quantity of beef and took both vehicles into custody. The accused were detained on the spot and later placed under arrest for violating relevant laws related to illegal transport of meat.

Police officials said further investigation is underway to determine the source of the consignment and whether more individuals are involved in the network. Authorities have also not ruled out additional arrests as the probe progresses.
