MARGAO: In view of the rising number of criminal incidents across the State, a letter has been sent by a Varca resident to the South Goa Superintendent of Police (SP) on behalf of the local community demanding stronger measures for maintaining law and order. Concerns were also raised about the nature of the getting reported, including
murders. “In an effort to address growing concerns about rising crime rates and accidents in Goa, I have submitted a formal request letter to both the Superintendent of Police in South Goa and the Police Inspector at Colva Police Station.
This letter outlines several key measures to enhance safety and security in the region,” said Varca-based social worker Warren Alemao, while addressing media persons on Monday.
“Firstly, I’ve urged the Police to augment the presence of law enforcement personnel in proximity to educational institutions, such as schools and colleges. This is vital to ensure the safety of students and staff,” said Alemao.
“Secondly, I’ve called for continuous patrols and checks at beaches and secluded areas. Given the regular influx of tourists and local visitors, it’s crucial that everyone feels secure in these popular locations,” he added further.
Lastly, he proposed rigorous screenings and record-keeping procedures for migrants residing in the Benaulim Constituency and said these measures aim to enhance accountability and transparency in the local community. “Overall, these initiatives aim to foster a safer and more secure environment for both residents and visitors in Goa,” said Alemao.
