PANJIM: The State government will celebrate the 58th anniversary of the Liberation of the State of Goa and various functions have been planned throughout the State.
The main function will be held at SAG Ground, Campal, Panjim at 9.15 am where Chief Minister Pramod Sawant will unfurl the national flag, take the salute, inspect the parade and address the people of Goa. He will also present awards to those who have contributed in different fields. On his arrival at the venue, the Chief Minister will be received by Revenue Minister Jennifer Monserrate, Chief Secretary Parimal Rai and Director General of Police.
The flag hoisting ceremony will also be attended by Speaker Rajesh Patnekar, cabinet ministers, Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat, Judges of the High Court, Advocate General, MPs, MLAs, political parties’ president and secretaries, government officials, freedom fighters among others.
Presentation of a cultural programme, national integration songs, Mass PT Drill and singing of the national anthem will be the highlights. The Raj Bhavan, the Old and New Secretariat buildings, the Legislative Assembly complex and the Directorate of Accounts building will be illuminated on the nights of December 18 and 19.
Various programmes have also been planned across the State particularly at the taluka headquarters at 9.15 a.m. Deputy Chief Minister, Chandrakant Kavlekar will perform the flag hoisting ceremony at Margao, Art and Culture Minister, Govind Gaude will hoist National Tricolour at Ponda, Ports Minister Michael Lobo will perform the flag hoisting ceremony at Mapusa and the Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho will unfurl the flag at Vasco,
Deputy Speaker Isidore Fernandes will perform the flag hoisting ceremony at Canacona, Deputy Chief Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar will perform the flag hoisting ceremony at Pernem, Power Minister Nilesh Cabral will perform the flag hoisting ceremony at Quepem, Sanguem MLA Prasad Gaonkar will unfurl the flag at Sanguem, PWD Minister Deepak Pauskar will perform the flag hoisting ceremony at Dharbandora, Mayem MLA Praveen Zantye will perform the flag hoisting ceremony at Bicholim and Dy Collector of Sattari will perform the flag hoisting ceremony at Sattari.
