VASCO: The fishing community leaders on Wednesday met Mormugao chief officer Jayant Tari regarding signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) before the fish market vendors are shifted to a temporary place.
Vasco market vendors leader Fr Michael Fernandes said that they discussed about the new market complex and when it will be completed and what facilities will be provided there.
Stating that they had discussed most of the issues in the past, Fr Fernandes said that on Wednesday they discussed other issues like provision of water supply, toilet facilities and a rest room. They also requested the Mormugao Municipal Council to provide security to fish vendors at the temporary place.
Fr Fernandes further said that since all their demands have been met by Vasco MLA Krishna ‘Daji’ Salkar and the chief officer, they will hand over the present market to the Council to take up construction work of the new Vasco fishing market complex.
